Alpine Guest House ADU

This 1,000-square-foot guest house ADU in Alpine, California, was designed as a comfortable and inviting secondary residence that combines efficient planning with generous indoor-outdoor living. The thoughtfully organized floor plan includes an expansive kitchen and dining area, private bedroom, full bathroom, dedicated laundry, and loft storage, providing the amenities of a complete residence within a compact footprint.

A defining feature of the design is the extensive covered porch that wraps around much of the structure, significantly expanding the usable living area while creating shaded spaces for relaxing, gathering, and enjoying the surrounding landscape. Large glazed doors and windows bring abundant natural light into the interior and strengthen the connection between the living spaces and the porch, giving the home an open and welcoming character.

Architecturally, the guest house combines a simple gabled roof with broad overhangs, horizontal siding, stone accents, and traditional residential proportions interpreted with a clean, contemporary approach. The completed ADU balances privacy, functionality, storage, and outdoor living to create a versatile secondary residence equally suited for guests, extended stays, or additional living space while maintaining a strong connection to its Alpine setting.
