Western Heritage Center

Western Heritage Professional Center is a two-story professional office development in downtown Templeton designed to complement the community’s traditional “Country Store” character. The project contains 12 individually owned professional condominium office suites ranging from approximately 500 to 900 square feet, each with a private restroom. Rather than introducing a conventional commercial building, the design draws from the simple forms and architectural vocabulary associated with historic Western storefronts, allowing the development to feel comfortably integrated with its downtown setting.

The individual offices are connected by continuous covered walkways on both levels, creating shaded circulation and a distinctive street-facing façade. An elevator—reportedly the first installed in Templeton—provides access to six of the upper-level suites, while parking is located entirely behind the building to preserve the pedestrian character and architectural presence along the street. Stepped false-front parapets, regularly spaced columns, simple trim, and upper-level railings reinforce the Western-inspired character while giving the individual office spaces a cohesive identity.

A defining aspect of the project was its careful relationship with the site’s mature heritage oak trees. The building footprint, circulation, and surrounding improvements were thoughtfully planned around these established natural features, allowing the trees to remain prominent elements of the property and streetscape. The completed project combines professional office space, accessible circulation, concealed parking, and regionally appropriate architecture within a development that respects both the small-town character and established landscape of downtown Templeton.
